Goodness me! It seems this series only focuses on Aoi so much that she had become a self insert! This is so terrible that it made me want to make a better version of it that would make much sence to the original 'plot'. I wish it wasn't limited to 26 episodes due to the bland storytelling and all the spirits just moaning about Aoi's grandad throughout almost every episode because I was promised a story that is set on Aoi cooking for her freedom so she can avoid marrying Odanna. Apparently it's as if the people who worked on this anime and possibly the mangaka forgot the sole reason why Aoi was in Kakuriyo in the first place. The character designs, the voice actors/actresses, the storytelling and presentation is what I am going to This show had a lot of potential since the beginning but I realized it was doomed from the start anyways. Some of the flashbacks were for things that happened minutes prior. I've seen a lot worse, but they recycled frames over and over, and there were a ton of unnecessary flashbacks. The show kept introducing one-dimensional characters that we learn the backstory of, but we never learn the backstory of the love interest, whom Aoi never ends up getting together with or spending more time with. Aoi was irritating because she made lots of stupid mistakes, kept needing to be rescued, and everything always worked out for her. If you're looking for cooking/slice of life with lots of cliches and no character development, then this is for you.Ĭharacters: The love interest Odanna was mysterious and I wanted to learn more about him or see him get together with Mary Sue. If you're looking for a romance anime, look elsewhere. The intro for the first half of the show has the feel of a romance/reverse harem anime, so it set my expectations for that kind of show, and instead, I was treated to Aoi's boring cooking show. The show seems to jump around from supernatural romance, adventure, and finally seems to settle on cooking anime. The initial premise was really intriguing, but they completely dropped it after only a few episodes.
